Better local infrastructure

From the clean drinking water in your tap to the safe, driveable roads in your community – local infrastructure is a vital issue which should not be overlooked this State Election.  

Join us in calling on the major parties to ensure the critical water, roads and sewerage infrastructure that connect you and your neighbours can continue to be safe and sustainable. 

 

The detail:

  1. Ensure funding certainty for local community infrastructure with a guaranteed $100m per year for Works for Queensland and $50m per year for SEQ infrastructure, indexed by CPI.
  2. Reintroduce a subsidy program, such as the former Water and Sewerage Program (WASP), to assist regional councils maintain ageing infrastructure and a dedicated capital infrastructure program to provide safe, sustainable service levels and address necessary upgrades and renewals.
  3. Improve road safety and upgrade regional roads with a permanent funding boost of $100m per year, plus CPI indexation, for the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme.
  4. Enhance project delivery by reintroducing a standalone infrastructure pipeline planning program for local governments.
