Empowering First Nations Peoples

Queensland’s 17 First Nations councils – and the communities they represent – are a crucial part of the cultural, social, and economic fabric of our state.

These communities must be heard – and supported – to ensure they continue to grow and thrive.

Join us in calling on the major parties to listen to the voices of Queensland’s First Nations councils and the communities they represent and support their priorities this State Election.

The detail:

  1. Reduce overcrowding and Close the Gap on disadvantage by partnering with Queensland councils to secure more Federal funding that increases housing supply.
  2. Permanently extend the Indigenous Councils Critical Infrastructure Program to deliver and manage water, wastewater and solid waste infrastructure, contributing to water security and long-term environmental and public health outcomes.
  3. Empower communities with a permanent, guaranteed increase in State Government Financial Aid funding.
  4. Better engagement with First Nations councils and their communities to improve coordination and delivery of health services that meet local needs.
